Stopped in for some quick chow before heading out to see a movie. Be advised that it is best of come in off of Lake Mead and park to the west of restaurant. Normally I would MF the parking situation but our mission was to support local business.
Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that it is rather small dining area. Size not with standing it was very clean and orderly. The atomo is relaxing even though your on the corner of Water St. & Lake Mead. There is also a large TV on the wall to stare and make comments at until your chow arrives.
The clerk was friendly and so we began to take in the menu. First thing that I noticed was that Hometown served up breakfast all day. The lunch menu consists of burgers & dogs, cold classics, hot classics, and supper time....this is the Blue Plate Special or South of the Border Special. This can be located on the board by the cash register.
"Classic American Eats" plays well with the menu, nothing fancy just straight eats. We are talking straight up comfort food. Feeling down but can't make it home for some of Mom's cooking then this is the place for you. Once you order your gonna get mashed potatoes, your gonna get Mac & Cheese, and for that really bad day, they have a Thanksgiving day Turkey Hoagie to gobble, gobble the blues away.
The staff was friendly and cost was cheap. I forgot to mention that they also serve a slice of daily cake or a slice of pie.
I look forward to coming back when a monsoonal thunderstorm comes rolling into town and watch it do it's thing with a glorious plate of comfort food sitting in front of me while killing time with a warm fuzzy feeling in my soul.
