I went to see Ashley Conway back in January to discuss a solution for my adult acne. My acne is not sever, I do not have whiteheads or huge deep cysts. All I have is persistent small bumps, similar looking to rosacea. Not the end of the world but annoying none the less. Ashley INSISTED that Accutane was the only thing that would clear up my acne. I felt uncomfortable with this solution because of the severe side affects associated with the drug. In the past I have been prescribed medications that altered my mood and lead to depression, anxiety or other mental disorders. I knew that Accutane could result in these issues and expressed concerns to her. She brushed off my concerns and said the side effects were rare. When I pressed her she avoided my questions and said "Well, I've never seen an issue in THIS office." (So you've seen it elsewhere and don't want to say?) Needless to say, I felt uncomfortable and insisted on a less severe prescription. I left the office with a prescription for topical Rentin A and the packet you have to sign and read over if you are to move forward with the Accutane drug. (She insisted that I start the process and come back in a month to make my decision). As I read over the packet there is AN ENTIRE SECTION devoted to warning individuals NOT to take this drug and to inform their doctor if they have ANY history of mental illness, depression, etc. I had just spent the last hour of my life detailing to this woman how afraid I was of taking this drug because of those reasons and she glossed over it like it was nothing.
Fast forward to my appointment the next month. I realized that I needed to reschedule the week before my appointment. I called the office numerous times and left multiple messages. No one ever got back to me. Eventually I just gave up. Things were going well with my topical prescription and I figured after my experience I would just continue to use it until my refills ran out, at which point I would go see a different dermatologist.
Today I called to get my first refill on the prescription and the company they were using Philidor RX Services, LLC WAS SHUT DOWN for questionable business practices! What is going on with this dermatologist office!? Needless to say I called again (finally got through) and expressed my unhappiness and concern. I will never go back to this dermatologist.
