This is a very hard review to write, but it's important. When the time comes for your beloved pet to cross over I want my experience, Tilly's experience, to help you. On 10.27.17 our beautiful Tilly died peacefully in our arms surrounded by her loved ones. We adopted her at around 4 months old - she was our 1st baby. She was a Boxer/Rottie mix and in her prime she weighed 100 lb. She lived a lot longer than the average life span for her size/breeds. She took her job as a guard dog very seriously. She was incredibly smart and sensitive - she would remember a person yrs later after having met them only once. She was calm and gentle towards children and smaller animals - always tolerant of our toddler's shenanigans. Tilly was the sweetest companion to everyone in our household, particularly her BFF Niko. She was quirky and had a sense of humor - she loved all fruits & vegetables except celery and was wholeheartedly opposed to zombies. You could not even say the word "zombie" in Tilly's presence, so, we've long referred to them as "Z's, for her benefit. I am heartbroken that I won't be able to rest my feet on her velvety fur as she lies under my desk anymore. I cannot believe that my faithful friend of the past 13 years is gone. Hug your loved ones close...this time that we've got together, it goes by surprisingly fast. Dr. Jennifer Walters, thank you for everything. We could not have asked for a better guide down an immensely difficult path. Choosing Lap of Love was one of the best decisions we've ever made on behalf of a loved one. Tilly was able to pass away in the peace and comfort of her own home, surrounded by her loved ones. Our other dog Niko was able to spend some time with Tilly after she died so that he could fully take in what had happened. Dr. Walters made a lovely clay print of Tilly's paw and saved a lock of Tilly's fur for us. She took such care to ensure Tilly's comfort that an onlooker might have mistaken Dr. Walter's for an additional member of Tilly's family. Our beautiful girl was handled with the utmost care and respect and her dignity remained a top priority throughout. Lap of Love works with Faithful Companion Cremation and they were wonderful as well. We met two different Faithful Companion staff members (one on the day of Tilly's passing and one on the day of cremains delivery) - both young men were lovely; very professional and compassionate. Faithful Companion hand delivered Tilly's cremains to us 2 days after her passing (on a Sunday) in a beautiful hand carved wooden urn with her name engraved on the side. You can get in touch with Lap of Love and Faithful Companion 7 days a week and after hours. Both services have lovely people operating the phones - people who will take the time to get to know you, ask about your beloved pet, and help coordinate the customized support that you need. I cannot recommend Lap of Love and Faithful Companion enough - thank you both for everything.
