A group of us traveled to Charlotte for a long weekend. We decided to go to Fran's because it was close to one of the events we were attending. The place is a little small but that adds to its charm and quaintness. The inside of the restaurant is much nicer than the strip mall exterior and "filling station" name would lead you to believe. As well, the food and service is much better also. Because of the size of the restaurant it can be difficult for the business to handle large parties. However, we called ahead to let them know we were coming. They seated us in a back room that was just large enough to handle our group of 18. We did have to sit at separate tables but this actually worked out well. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly, even though we ran her to death. The group got a variety of items from the mussels to the brisket, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Even with a large group all the meals came out pretty quickly and very close together. No one was left waiting while others were eating! Kudos to the chef and owner/manager. We highly recommend Fran's Filling Station for a delicious meal.
