If I could give Grouchy John's more stars, I would. Let me tell you why. I have been to GJ's about 5 times. My fiancé and I were lucky to stumble across this gem of a local coffee shop on our way home from a weekend Vegas trip. The atmosphere is awesome- think your neighborhood coffee shop- laid back, lots of games, comfy seating, and cheerful and unique decor. The drink menu is huge- lots of creative drinks ranging from coffee based to tea to smoothies. Everything that I've ordered has been fresh and flavorful, whether it's just a plain black coffee or a house special drink. I personally love to order a plain coffee, a latte of some sorts- try the one with amaretto with soy milk- and the yoda- a green smoothie that is full of fresh fruit and veggies. Yep- three drinks in one order. The best part of GJs is the service! We always make a point to stop in on our Vegas trips. The baristas are always extremely friendly, genuine, and ready to help. Drinks are freshly made and complimentary starbursts accompany them. Even though we aren't regulars, John remembers us! One weekend we had to make a last minute decision to drive back to Phoenix because we couldn't find a place to stay. We decided to stop by GJs on the way home to get caffeinated for our 4.5 hour drive. We walked in 10 min before closing, the chairs were up and the floors were being mopped. I could tell the kitchen was just about clean and shut down, but John greeted us like we were regulars and invited us to place an order. On top of that, I had a free drink from my frequent buyer card and he deducted the most expensive drink. He chatted with us while he made our drinks and treated us like old friends. All of these interactions and experiences lent me to want to give GJs a high review. I remember wanting to give them a stellar review after my first visit and I am even more impressed that they keep exceeding my expectations! I wish I could go more often!
