This is the fourth afternoon magic show I have seen in Las Vegas, and out of the four that I believe are currently playing, this is the best. At least for me, as Mac King appeals to my inner dork. My husband and I have seen Mac King at an NPR show we went to for a taping at the Paris Hotel for "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me," (http://www.npr.org/programs/wait-wait-dont-tell-me/), and found him to be hilarious. I was delighted when we finally got a chance, thanks to Yelp Seats, to see the full show with a group. Some of the other similar shows on the strip use flashy props and sleek music and dancers. Mac King mostly relies on his wits and some pretty bare props such as little tents and ponchos, string, cards, and not much else. Oh fig newtons and tiny boxes of breakfast cereal are also prominent in his show. As I said above, Mac King is a huge dork after my own heart. My husband was raving about how cool his top to bottom plaid suit, matching cape and handkerchief were. With Lance Burton no longer around, this is not only the best magic show in town, but probably one of the best shows in Las Vegas right now.
