short version; they scam you by giving you acrylic nails for uv gel nails. there is no such thing as "powder gel". google it! long version; ive been here three times, twice with tracy and once with another girl. my first time here, everything seemed so good. good atmosphere, seemed hygenic.. i got uv gel nails from tracy and she seemed so nice. she offered a lot of extra at "no charge" including the pink toned base whatever she called it which is normally $10 extra & little flower design i didnt even want which was normally $5 extra. i was a little skeptical since the process was exactly like acrylic (with brush dipped in liquid then powder), but what do i know and with all the extras, i didnt make a big deal out of it. they charged me extra for cuticle cleanup. my second time here, tracy wasnt there so i went with whoever was available. she wasnt interested in any of my concerns. she said ok to everything i requested but i didnt receive anything what i asked for. in between my second & third visit, i went back home (toronto) for a visit. i went to whatever nail salon closeby and got a set of uv gel nails there. priced a bit cheaper than nail palace, gave cuticle care plus hand massage with warm towels. they actually used GEL instead of the "gel powder". they offered me free top coat on my toe nails (i didnt get a pedicure) and refused to take my tip because i had to wait 20min. all that AND no ass kissing from the nail technician. when i came back to calgary, i went back to tracy for a refill. she saw that i have gotten my nails done somewhere else and asked me where i got them done and if they used powder or gel. when i told her gel, she said they were ripping me off and said powder gel is top quality and more expensive. and so she removed my previous nail job and redid my "uv gel nails" with the "powder gel". but i didnt think the lovely nail tech from toronto would lie to me.. so i decided that for my refill, id go to my bfs moms friend who is a certified nail technician for a honest opinion. when i went to my bfs moms friend for a refill, she asked me how sure i was that my nails were gel. no background story was given to her. she removed it and told me that THEYRE NOT GEL NAIL, and that gel nail should not smell like acrylic when being removed. my suspicion was proved right. so no, i would never ever go back to nail palace or refer it to anyone for its dishonesty and condescending remarks toward another nail technicians honest work. maybe this had nothing to do with the management but just that one technician, but even so, they have lost their credibility with me. boo to nail palace. oh the pros of this place: they have food network on! their atmosphere is great. they offered me a drink one out of three times ive been here.
