Got a call from a friend whose birthday venue turned out to be overbooked. She was frantic to find a place that served Asian food, was affordable, but great enough for the dozen of us to enjoy--in a couple of short hours from her call! Of course, I turned to Yelpers and the fact that Gangnam had over 2,500 reviews with an average rating of 4.5 stars convinced me this was a safe place to recommend. My friend immediately booked their private room for 7pm. While the restaurant appeared small from the storefront, it was surprisingly well laid out for groups, couples, and we saw singles dining, too. So don't hesitate to stop in if you're dining solo. We were seated in a private room toward the back, large enough, yet cozy for 12. As soon as most of the group were seated, the ban chan was brought in. Large variety of appetizer were laid out, including the requisite kimchi mixes, sprouts, taegu, and more. Our friendly server guided us to the combination selections. It was unanimous that the Gangnam combo would be the way to go as the more people you have, the better the price per person. The ban chan had the requisite various kimchi, sprouts, and much more. Onion miso soup, large salad to share, fresh oysters on the half shell, grilled shishito peppers, mushroom medley, choice of steamed rice or bulgogi bibimbap rice, and beef ... lots and lots of beef ... kalbi, bulgogi, etc. Food seemed to just keep coming until we were overwhelmed and finally tapped out! We enjoyed the experience and the food so much, we're planning on heading back with another group of family coming to town in a few weeks.
