What a break from Vegas!
I can only take so many blinking lights and tittie cards flying around the strip. Every once in a while on a trip to Vegas I need to see some nature. So I go to Lake Mead.
They have beaches and awesome hiking trails. My favorite trail was the one where you get up to a get a great view of the Black Canyon. Don't ask me how I got there, I happen to know one of the park rangers and let him drive.
Thanks to Groupon, a friend was able to snag one for a pontoon boat rental. While these things only go a whopping 5 kts, we were still able to make it to the damn and putt around taking awesome pictures around the lake. By the dock you'll see and unreal amount of carp and cool looking loons (the waterfowl kind, not the ones on the strip).
