Oh my! My son had the Antwerp and offered me a taste. I was in heaven! I hadn't ordered a waffle since we were just coming from dinner and I wasn't hungry enough for a large dessert. That didn't stop me from ordering a cup of Dave & Andy's cinnamon ice cream, though; I lived in Oakland when the original shop was open and fell in love with that flavor. After moving away from Pittsburgh in 1986, I never saw it on a menu again and over time, forgot all about it. Each spoonful I enjoyed at Waffalonia took me back to the 1980s and my many stops at the ice cream shop just up the street from my Dawson Street apartment. If you're planning on eating in at Waffalonia, expect to get cozy as seating is very limited and the few tables there are very close together.
