I was skeptical of going to a buffet in Vegas that was not in one of the hotels. I came here on a recommendation from a friend of a friend. I'm glad I did. The service here was great. we had a party of ten and they were very attentive to our party.
The food was awesome. I thought this place was going to be similar to the Todai sushi buffet, but Makino was better hands down. The sushi tasted fresh. Comparable as if you were sitting at an actual sushi bar. The had a variety of rolls, although I was kind of bummed that they didn't have a crunchy roll, which is one of my favorites. Never the less, they did have a jalapeno, stuffed with cream cheese, tuna and melted cheese. It was so good. I woofed down about 5 of those. :) They snow crab legs. They were ok, not as gargantuan as the ones at the hotels, but enough to kill the craving. They also had fresh oysters. I'm not a fan but my wife says they were delicious. They also had yakitori sticks, teriyaki steaks, and a good variety of Japanese food. Fried rice was BOMB!
And for dessert, they had a chocolate fountain! Complete with strawberries, marshmellows, pineapple, and other fruits to dip it in. They had a variety fruits to dip. Ice cream was available for your sweet tooth as well as a variety of pastries. Another thing they have that I thought was unique to a buffet was shaved ice. YUM!
Overall. Great experience, friendly staff and good food.
