Ahh! I am so so happy this amazing place opened up so close to my neighbourhood. I found out about Cakes Cove at Video Games Live a week ago when they had Samantha up on stage showing off her Mass Effect N7 armor and M-6 Carnifex heavy pistol made entirely of chocolate! (They are on display in a side room at the shop. So cool!) The shop itself is just the right amount of nerdy mixed with nommy nommy sweets! There is a huge selection of delicious treats to take home, I had to limit myself to just a few. I settled on a box of the ice wine lavender shortbread cookies, a package of the white chocolate lemon orange citrus bark and a single pumpkin pie with cream cheese buttercream pi-brid cupcake (made especially for Pi Day of course). That cupcake.. was the most delicious thing of life. Imagine a cupcake with the most scrumptious buttercream frosting and a pumpkin pie filling with a puff pastry pie bottom. I only bought one, but I wish I had purchased the whole case. SO. GOOD. The shortbread cookies are so buttery and yummy and great with a cup of tea, and the bark is sinfully good and I'm going crazy for it. Definitely re-purchasing. My birthday is in August, and it's been years since I had a birthday cake, but Cakes Cove is giving me a reason to re-instate that tradition!
