A stunning exterior with so many possibilities! I am a sucker for brick exteriors and this place has a nice brick-lined archway at the entrance. I also like the name 'brown sugar' although technically they do not serve real brown sugar inside (it's refined cane sugar that's browned later).
When I had my first sip of coffee, I said to myself "ah, glad I didn't go to Tim Hortons" but I couldn't come up with anything else. I think the place is very functional - not bad coffee, not bad desserts and an average place to hangout.
I must mention that this place has been around in Parkdale before the area was taken over by hipster cafes and higher quality coffees. But if you want to sit down with your mom in a place she feels comfortable, skip the hip cafes and come here.
