This is definitely one of Charlotte's best museums. Not only are the pieces exceptional but the staging and display of the pieces is very artfully done; good placement, dramatic lighting. The entire museum is mixed media which keeps visitors engaged throughout. Mint Uptown is surprisingly large so give yourself a couple hours to take it all in. I appreciated the focus on American artists, some even local to NC. The permanent exhibits are excellent and worth a visit alone but the visiting exhibits were also fantastic; entertaining and provocative. The kid's art and play center is truly wonderful and we were thrilled at the Mint's generosity in providing all of the different materials to allow budding artists to fully express themselves. Go hungry and leave room for a meal at The Halcyon, one of the nation's top museum cafes.
