Churned is not your grandma's ice cream shop... and if you have little ones who prefer the typical, it's not really their ice cream shop either!! With that said, they have several innovative combinations -- a la Jeni's -- that combine the sweet with savory. If that's not your thing, you may have to settle for (Madagascar) Vanilla or (Fair Trade Organic) Chocolate. After several samples, which were doled out gracefully and with smiles, I settled on the Brown Butter with Lavender Brittle, which was absolutely wonderful. My 9-year-old, sad that nothing resembling Cookies 'n Cream was to be found, wound up with Cap'n'Crunch (made with real cereal milk!). He thought it was pretty good. My wife and daughter had the aforementioned Chocolate and loved it. Service was excellent, with a complete understanding that not everyone likes wasabi, black sesame seeds, or liquid smoke in their desserts... even suggesting we try as many as we like before buying a scoop. Prices are fair and surroundings are sparse -- it's all about the ice cream, which is darn good.
