I was walking along Dundas west to look for brunch and found this dated looking bakery with its display window filled with baked goods. I was curious and went inside and felt like I had traveled back in time with all the original decor still present from the 70s. The bakery has been open for over 40 years. They are known for the cinnamon buns which you can get 6 and get one free. I opted for a pumpkin scone, strawberry rhubarb pie and the last pumpkin pie. Everything was very fresh and just freshly baked that morning. The pumpkin scone didn't have a strong pumpkin flavour to it but it wasn't too dry and just the right amount of sweetness. The strawberry rhubarb pie was a bit sweet but a surprising kick of cinnamon with every bite. The crust was still crispy the next day and coated with the perfect amount of sugar. I brought the pumpkin pie as a hostess gift and it was a huge hit. Nice and soft filling with the perfect homemade crust that fed all 6 of us. I'm not sure if they used pureed pumpkins from a can or fresh pumpkins but it still tasted amazing. They also have the option of making things eggless if you put in a request ahead of time! Would definitely go back for more as the customer service was great and the baked goods delicious and not over- priced.
