I had to run another errand this morning and opted to stop by Old Navy. Super convenient location right off I-17 & Happy Valley smack dab right in the middle of basically everything. Tons and tons of ample parking and since I hate door-dings, this is always a bonus for me.
Let me preface this review by stating that the highest quality clothing in the world is not going to be found behind the doors of Old Navy. Recognize that. Comparing their $10 polo shirts to the $95 Ralph Lauren Purple Label Polo you got from your favorite pretentious boutique in downtown Scottsdale is not only unfair, it's just plain stupid.
I pretty much come to Old Navy for two reasons:
1.) Their loose fit khaki pants which I wear to work.
2.) Their t-shirts.
Before I go on, this location is just like any other Old Navy store you've ever been in. This location is clean, plenty of helpful employees and everything is always where you found it the last time you were in the store. Now about those khakis...
I'm not a Millenial. I'm definitely not a hipster. I do not wear khakis, dress pants or jeans with the words "SLIM fitting / straight leg" anywhere on the garment. I'm a guy. I'm an adult. I have parts that require movement and sue me if being comfortable is more important to me than being fashionable. Mind you, I'm not interested in looking like a slob, but I'm also not interested in having my male parts pressed tightly against my zipper and seams. If today's generation of young adults enjoy that feeling of constriction combined with their idea of what fashion is, kudos to all of them. I don't particularly enjoy my groin being numb throughout my work day, so I opt for the Loose-Fitting Khakis with built-in flex seams from Old Navy. The best part about these khakis are they not only sit a little below the waist, but there is a lot of room to move around and for all your parts to feel free and non-constricted. This is terribly important for me. The pants are loose fitting and somewhat baggy without looking sloppy or unprofessional. I wear these to work everyday where I'm seated 80% of the day and they are so comfortable! Lots of room throughout the leg area and plenty of ample room in the crotch. I'm so sorry. I'm not purposely trying to emphasize this, I just fail to see how any grown man can wear a pair of pants I couldn't even get one of my quads into. If you're a cyclist like me or someone who enjoys leg day at the gym, these Old Navy khakis are your ticket to freedom and comfort. I bought three more pairs as back-up just in case a bunch of slim-fitting dudes decide to storm the Old Navy corporate office in protest of these loose-fitting khaki pants. If Old Navy ever decides to phase them out or are taken hostage by a bunch of slim-fitting individuals, I can sleep well knowing I have a back-up to my back-up to my back-up hanging neatly in my closet.
When I'm not complaining about my khakis and polo shirts I wear on a daily basis to the place where I go to make money, you can often find me in shorts and a t-shirt. The vintage, well-washed t-shirts found at Old Navy are not only terribly inexpensive - they seem to last forever and are another comfortable garment of clothing. That's my take on Old Navy and I'm sticking to it.
** Individuals who enjoy feeling as though you're wearing a slim-fit straight jacket around your groin, need not apply.
