Went here on a weeknight because we were looking for shaved ice that was comparable to Blockheads in LA. The place was easy enough to find as they had lights that flashed on the ground. Nice touch. The place is small and modest, and clean. Very happy with that. We ordered a mango and a strawberry shaved ice. They were really good and perhaps better than the ones we had in Los Angeles. However, I was very annoyed at three things that dropped this rating down to 3 stars. First, there was button to summon the server which I found a tad impersonal. The server was right behind us and never looked once to take our order until I pushed the button. Second, they did not accept debit or credit card. I know they have to pay charges on every transaction, but don't cheap out on customers because you want to save a couple of dollars. Finally, when I checked our bill, they included a service charge of 10% to serve as a tip. I'm not cheap by any means, but I don't like being obligated to pay a "service charge" or gratuity. Tipping should not be forced, it should be voluntary. While I did enjoy the shaved ice, I doubt I will come back. Unless of course they re-think the whole "cash only" and "10% service charge" policy.
