I had been to this theater many times before it converted to the dine-in style. We just returned from our first time since the conversion and we had a pleasant experience. Normally I would not make the drive to Esplanade since I now live in Tempe, but they had a March special for buy one get one free admission to any show. Getting a ticket was a slow process since they only had two people working and the lines were long. They do have ticket machines you can use, but I had to redeem the coupon I had so needed to wait in line. I loved that we could choose our seats before going into the theater.
Once we were seated, we ordered some drinks and the Breadstick Sampler appetizer from the specials menu. The two types of breadsticks were very good, some large soft pretzel sticks, and then some cheesy garlic breadsticks. They came with sides of queso and marinara sauce. I think I would stick with finger foods like this if I visited again. They should make the Breadstick Sampler a permanent menu item, I would have it again! Downside to eating in the dark - I was very tense trying to maneuver and make sure I didn't get any sauces on me or spill my drink.
The seats were comfy and I like that you have the option to swivel the tray table over your lap or leave it to the side. Service was very attentive. As we were leaving we filled out a short survey about our experience and they gave us each a $10 appetizer voucher. I imagine we will be back to use that at some point. Otherwise like I said it is too far from Tempe, but if AMC added a dine-in location in Tempe or Mesa or Chandler, I would gladly frequent it!
