I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place, I apologize Takamatsu! I've been going here for the past 10-11 years or so, give or take. I think I've tried almost all of the Korean dishes, including bbq and this place always delivers...I've taken countless friends and acquaintances here, and we've never had a bad experience, ever. Is it the best Korean food I've ever had? While I can't say that it has, as I've been to too many places in Southern CA and downtown LA/Koreatown that are superior, Takamatsu is probably the best place in AZ that I've personally been to. I guess technically, my review should be 4.5 stars, but since I can't seem to leave a half star review, I am rounding up for how well they've always treated me.
Some of my favs here include (please forgive the phonetic spelling) Kalbi Tang (regular and spicy), Sul Lung Tang, Kim chi jjigae, Daen jang jjigae, Kalbi dol sot bibim bap, Dduk mandu guk, Yuk gae jang, Nak ji bokkeum...all of the meats for the bbq including shrimp and squid, as well as some of the sushi offerings (spicy tuna!). This review is long overdue. Don't confuse this location with the one that used to be near Luke Air Force base, that one was just awful, and I see that that location has since closed, shocker. But this location is completely different and I would suggest that anyone who is curious about Korean food to check it out.
