Communication is a huge problem at this repair facility. I took my car in because of a squeling belt and also for quote to repair arm and boot as my the Toyota dealer had just performed oil change and put that on my recommended replacement due to pin hole leak. They said it was probably the AC and performed a free AC check up. They called back and said the belt noise was due to being too loose so they quoted $26.00 to tighten it, they also gave me price for other repair I requested quote on and I agreeded to it. I called them 15 minutes until close because they said they would have it ready before the end of the day and I wanted to make sure my husband could get there in time to pick it up. That is when they asked to return my call because the mechanic was concerned about my brakes not working. Basically they ask me if I was having any issues with my brakes prior to bringing it there because they claim the pedal was touching the floor to stop. Note: Now I had just had my car at the dealer for routine oil change and their inspection came back fine and I drive the car daily and never had issues but all of the sudden my brakes don't work? My biggest complaint was why not call me and tell me in advance that you are going to adjust my rear brakes and re-bleed the system prior to doing so? When I heard the words re-bleed I immediately thought wait, re- as. In bleed them again? I did not take my car there for brake concerns nor did I have any problems with them. Now all the sudden there is an issue that the mechanics have been trying to resolve without first contacting me? I did not give the okay to adjust my rear brakes or Re-bleed the system. I am not sure how a repair involving removing front tire to replace arm and boot and adjusting a belt tensioner could make them want to check and adjust my rear brakes. Anyhow, I am an hour away from faculty so I can not go in person. I would have left work in time had I known they were having issues. My husband goes there because at this point it is already closing time. 5:00. He pays them and leaves my car there so that can pick it up after getting a ride. It is a short one mile drive to my home from the repair shop, and sure enough after going to pick it up I felt as if my car wasn't going to stop! I call mobile mechanic to home for repair the next morning. He agrees to come and look at it the following day. He recommended rear brake replacement because they were uneven but that don't solve my brake pedal and suddenly not being able to brake correctly. Basically air in the line needed to be cleared out, how was this even an issue? How soda it get into the line? I can't say for certain because I wasn't there but I feel they may have accidentally disconnected the brake hose when replacing front arm while removing the tire. Ohh and then all of the sudden my AC goes out after they performed a complete AC check a few days prior. I took it back hoping they could loosen the belt they tightened to get my AC working again? Nope, instead while performing the AC check as I waited in the waiting room. They come back out about 1 1/2 hours later and say it was 1/2 pound low on refrigerant so they added it. Again communication is horrible. I was there in the waiting room the entire time. Why not tell me in person and ask me if they can add freon to refill? Instead of coming out the door with $1,400 repair estimate and including the parts and labor for the 1/2 pound refrigerant for $117.00 that they had just performed. I declined the service. Note They did not ask me to pay for the freon, but again why perform a repair without first notifying the customer again. Definitely Wont take my car here again, and would not recommend this place due to their communication and shady procedures. It is possible for all the repairs to be necessary and for AC to randomly break down after taking it there, not blaming them for that, however they need to inform customer if they are going to perform services not discussed it agreed upon prior to doing so. Also, they should not include any services they performed into the price quote they give you for said recommended service.
