Ehhh, I got a No Fair Funnel Cake here after our Mexican lunch at neighboring Jose Ole, and man did it make me want to go to a state fair to have a real funnel cake, or at least make my own. It should come as no surprise, but the funnel cakes are akin to Eggo waffles here and are merely toasted in an electric oven. That being said, they did give me a bunch of nice, fat, fresh strawberries, and I sort of like their bagged whipped cream, which is a notch above what you get out of an aerosol can. And the ice cream ain't bad. They apparently make it on the premises (I saw an ice cream maker back there), and you can't help but want to eat it as they scoop it up with those paddles and work those fixings into the dairy blob on a frozen marble slab. For some reason I liked the Squirrel Hill one a notch more. Methinks the chains are finally wearing on me. I mean, they aren't all bad, and not all indies are great, but a great indie that makes as much as they can from scratch is always preferable to the ready-madeness of a chain, no matter how good that ready-madeness is.
