There is not much positive to say about this place. From the silly name of this chain to the panhandlers outside the store to the expensive prices of their produce, GE is complete trash. The only reason I shop here is for convenience; once I get a car, I will be frequenting places like the Strip District much more. The produce is overpriced. $5 a pound for cherries or snap peas is plain robbery; I understand that they are more "exotic," but that is just ridiculous. Their selection is also very limited as supermarkets go; stop by the GE in the Market District and you'll notice the difference. Finally, the quality ranges from fresh to disgusting; I've seen fruit flies over their "new crop" of peaches. As other reviewers noted, they are always understaffed. Come here late at night and you'll be stuck in one of two long lines of 10 people each. I don't understand why they close off the self-checkout lines after a certain time. They would be better off taking one of their bagging boys and staffing him at the self-checkout counters.
