When I was a kid, my parents took me and my sister all over Paris and Brittany. One of the highlights of the trip was dinner at Le Jules Verne restaurant at the Eiffel Tower. I remember eating veal, buttery pasta, and this shredded celery I wish I could figure out how to prepare, as well as I recall that legendary elevator ride. What an incredible experience--it feels like it was yesterday. Fast forward a few years--we had lunch at the Paris Eiffel Tower in Vegas this past weekend the day after the wedding. The elevator ride was shorter and it did not look like it would be in a James Bond movie, but it was super fun and brought back a lot of memories for me. The view of the skyline and Bellagio fountains was terrific. Our waiter clearly was French and was very attentive. The bread may have been the highlight of the meal--it was superb--but my salmon paillard was decent. My only issue with it was that since the fish was pounded thin, it was more cooked through than I tend to like it. Then again, I like my salmon rare or even raw. The presentation was lovely. Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant for that glitzy Vegas novelty factor and for giving me nostalgia.
