I enjoy Sal's when the techno DJ's are playing and people are dancing and partying. In my experiences one of the best nights is Tuesday.
Sometimes it takes the place a little while to pick up, but once it does the party is bumping! People don't seem to care who is watching them dance, they just give it and really enjoy themselves. The DJ's never have a disappointing moment and are always playing something worth dancing.
The prices aren't unreasonable, and if you're lucky, the bartender will buy you a drink. Ladies, just give a little flirt and you have a good chance of getting at least one drink for free. Sorry fella's, most of the bartenders favour the girls. Yay for being a girl!
I'm not a huge fan of Sal's on other nights of the week. More often than not you're among three or four people in the place and it isn't very active. I've only experienced a really good time there on Tuesday nights. Techno (apparently) = good dancing times!
