I've been procrastinating on writing this review for fear I wouldn't do this incredible woman justice. I had my second home birth with Allyson in November. (My review of my first birth with her is on here as well)
I'm going to start by saying I'm a great mother...let me explain :) I am a great mother because of Allyson. When I think of how much I have learned from her it brings tears to my eyes. I did not just "have a baby". I had an incredibly beautiful birthing experience and I have had the absolute joy of having Allyson by my side since 2013 when I first set out to become a mom.
Allyson is not just someone you see on a schedule because you are pregnant; she is a friend, a mentor, a maternal figure, and an inspiration. She is hands down the best listener I know. You will never feel like a concern or fear is silly or not worth her time. She will address and explain everything you need her to. I learned so much about the birthing process, breastfeeding, positive parenting, my health, my marriage, my babies, and myself while in her care.
My second birth was very quick and Allyson just stood by and let me do what she knew was what I wanted. I was able to give birth to my baby girl unassisted in the comfort of my own tub. Allyson kindly gave instructions and support, but I did it and there is truly nothing more fulfilling and amazing than delivering your baby in a safe and comfortable environment with such a wonderful trusted friend at your side.
Allyson's focus is of course the safety of mom and baby, but she does not interfere with the wishes of the family or your vision for your birth. Within 20 minutes of delivery I was nursing my baby in bed with my husband. Allyson allowed nearly 2 hours of family bonding before we weighed and measured our daughter. Allyson personally takes care of you, checks in at 24 hours, and visits you at home for first well check. She even made a special visit to us to remedy a tongue tie issue four days after our birth, so there would be no issues with nursing.
The only downside to my experience is that she makes me want to have many more babies and my husband has restricted me to two. I wish every woman were as lucky as I have been. There just really isn't any way to thank someone for giving you such an unforgettable and meaningful experience. But thank you, Allyson for being the center of my journey into motherhood. We love you!
