I gave Breadsmith five stars in my previous review. Today I am giving them one star. I went in this morning at 7:45 am and while I was deciding what to buy I saw the woman behind the counter take her bare hands and place two loaves of bread onto the display area. I said, "You just touched with that with your bare hands." She said, "I wash my hands many times a day." I said, "It doesn't matter. You're not supposed to do that." I went on to explain that I used to work in a bakery and that you're either supposed to use food papers or plastic gloves whenever handling food." I could see the square box of food papers right next to her but she didn't use them. She said, "I'm sorry. I usually do." I walked out without buying anything.
If this is how she handles food *in front* of customers how is food being handled when no customers are around?
****UPDATE - One of the owners sent me a message today and is obviously concerned about what I saw. I give her credit for her quick response and taking the matter seriously. She obviously cares about her business. Everyone makes mistakes, in this case, the employee did, but the owner handled this very well. I highly doubt she didn't receive proper training about basic food handling. I will feel confident about going back to Breadsmith since she is going to speak with the employee about what happened.
