1 star and this is already a lot.
I don't even know what to begin with. I am a regular to all places downtown Toronto, and I was waiting for Lavelle to re-open this summer.
Well, I could have skip it, I wouldn't have missed much. One of the worse rooftop pool of downtown. Not worth the hype.
- ENTRANCE: the young dark hair mixed asian lady at the entrance is not helpful aside from giving attitude to everybody coming in
- CLIENTÈLE: as the uniform of the staff, not really classy either (a mix of redneck & old sugar daddies...)
- FOOD: if they finally decide to come to serve you, after waiting forever (I had to go get someone, most of the time employees ignore you), you may have a chance to order food. Then you will realize food is just ok, but overpriced.
After waiting 30 minutes for a simple tartare (not even a busy day) I politely asked an update about it and the brunette inside told me " I don't know, the waitress and I don't share the same brain " well please go to check on my order maybe ?
- SERVICE: bad ? No, mediocre. Only two ladies were running around and actually working. 2 ladies out of 10, question for 8 of you: what are you being paid for ?
- STAFF: Those 3 long hair blondes useless ladies that were as brainless as inefficient, walking along the pool, laughing and drinking during their shifts, doing nothing else in their blue (breast open) uniform.
- BAR: I was very surprised about the bartender lady outside who was absolutely running the bar by herself for her first shift ! She was killing it and she seem to be the only one concerned about the service. But her coworker was trying to pick up some girls (looking way too young to drink by the way) and was useless as well.
To the lady bartender, if this is your first shift, with all my respect you're overqualified for Lavelle, and you deserve a coworker who help you !
- WASHROOM: extremely dirty, I think the cleaning staff is as inexistant as the service in general.
Also, a group of people came to the rooftop and was sitting on a dirty stained mattress outside, they brought their own alcohol bottle and Lavelle staff didn't even notice or realize.
So I'm disappointed because the rooftop view is quite nice, but there are billion other rooftop pool (also cleaner than at Lavelle) and less pretentious.
CACTUS CLUB doesn't have a pool, but their food & service are amazing, and if it's only about it, then the pool is not a priority...
