First, and most importantly, the food is fantastic. The location is one of my favorites in the valley. The orchard is lovely and sitting on the patio is my favorite. I tried Pomelo's with a friend a few months ago and I've been back four times since then. The food rates five stars, and I don't often go there. Unfortunately, the service is really hit or miss. So, there's a star missing for that. I've had really great service once, okay service twice, and poor service twice. The food though, we haven't had one disappointment. I've probably tasted at least half the menu. The tuna tartare is excellent, very unique and absolutely irresistible. The calamari with shrimp is some of the best I've found in the Phoenix area. The pizza (not something I typically rave about) is pretty amazing. I adore the mushroom pizza and order it almost every time just to have some to take home. The cocktails are typically pretty good and fairly strong, though we've had a couple misses. Overall, Pomelo is a strong favorite and I love taking friends there.
