I lived at Aventerra twice. The first time between Feb 2008 - March 2009. The 2nd time from Nov 2014 - Dec 2015. Both apartments I lived in were right on the lake, meaning that my balcony doors and front doors faced the lake. The views were great. The 1st time I live there everything was good so I will not talk about it. The 2nd time I live was different. I will address those issues I had. No balcony covers - The balcony covers had been removed since the first time I lived there. During the summer this caused the sun to directly hit my balcony and balcony door. This made my living room so hot and bright, even with the blinds closed all the way. My electric bill was almost $200 for 2 month and over $150 for two more months (for a 1 bedroom). During nice rainy days I couldn't even crack my balcony door because the rain would get the carpet wet, even with the screen door closed. On nice fall or spring days, I did not enjoy sitting on my balcony because there was no shade at all. If you live downstairs this will not be an issue for you. Parking - parking was never good if you lived on the lake, but it was so much worse this time. There seemed to be a lot of people with big work trucks. Lots of them. Some would be parked in one spot for up to 2 weeks straight. Most would be gone early at 5am and be back to claim the same spot by 2pm. These big trucks parked in walk ways, they took up move than one spot, they jutted out so they were partially in the dive/road way. If I ever had guest they would never find parking. Termites- about 2.5 months before I moved I started having termite problems. They were falling from my bathroom's vent and fan. They would cover the floor. They would fall in my hair, which is long. No matter how much I swept the floor 20 minutes later it would be covered in termites again. I finally taped the vent and fan with layers and layers of plastic moving wrap and clear moving tape. The termites then got caught in the wrap and tape. There were hundreds of them. I kept the tape up until I moved on Dec 17. During that time I couldn't used my A.C. or heat (it was still hot in Oct, and got cold in Dec), because I would have had to remove the tape and more termites would have come out. Termites were also in the door jam of my front door and in the wooden walk way. I called the office several times, but all they did was send out a guy to squeeze foam through a straw into the crevices where the termites were coming from. However, he couldn't do that for the bathroom fan or vent. I was so happy when I moved because I was tired of dealing with them. Sewer roaches - the big huge ones, not the little tiny ones, became a problem. To this day I do not know where they came from, but I saw about 2-3 a month and in Sept and October I would see 2-4 a week. The park across the lake noise - the lake is beautiful, but on the other side of the lake is a public park. This means that any noise at the park, you get to hear. When the weather is nice there will be parties, cos-players, bag pipers, music blasted and couples arguing. Example: One nice Sunday I got to listen to old country western music followed by geriatric bingo. Late one Tuesday night I got to listen to a couple argue loudly. This also happened the first time I lived at Aventerra, but not to this extent. I think the balcony covering deflected some of the noise. Also this time my apartment was farther down on the lake. So those are the big things. Everything else was normal for apartment living. I had no problems with the management; they were nice, but due to the termites, sewer roaches and the park noise, I did not renew my lease.
