FOODIES: do NOT go here!!!!!! You will hate it!! This place is the type of place my parents would enjoy. It's dark, dingy, the server outfits are outdated, and the food is over priced. Yet, this is a well known restaurant in Montreal so it keeps packing in the people. Being from Texas, I know good steak, this is not good steak. I've had better steak in Denmark. Having traveled the world, it is rare to take a recommendation from a trusted source without first consulting Yelp but I didn't have Wifi so I went with the suggestion and now I wish I hadn't. There is not a full service bar to eat at so if you're a single person, you will be seated at a table. My waiter was Asian. Nothing against him at all but from the start, you knew this was not going to be an authentic meal at all. They bring you bread, butter, pickles and bacon pieces. That's strange but I went with it. All were pretty alright. The wine selection is unimpressive to say the least. I ordered Osso Bucco because I heard from the table next to me that the steaks were over cooked. And I saw that the table next to me was served a well done steak. Again, being from Texas, the cook should know better than to butcher a good cut of meat. The Osso Bucco was a large portion and the flavor was not memorable. As my side, I had a baked potato Monte Carlo which I was grateful for as it was the only food item I could really eat and it was not great. On the side I was served carrots and asparagus, they were not prepared with any uniqueness at all. They do provide you with lemon sorbet to cleanse your pallet and that tasted good, ha! Oh, they do give you tiny chocolate square when you pay that are edible. I don't know why people dine here, I can get better food at Texas Roadhouse. I guess it's nostalgia?? I looked around the dining room and there were both young & old people so I'm guessing it's their reputation or name that keeps them in business. I wouldn't dine there again.
