I was looking for a replacement for my current bakery and decided to try Noisette after so many great reviews it received here on Yelp. Their web site shows some really mouthwatering creations like Lemon Cheesecake Bombe and Traditional butter tart, sadly I have come to find out that only a handful of them is actually available at the store. They did not have any of the ones I have come to try, so had to pick what was available, here is a detailed opinion about each one:
1) Ham and cheddar quiche: 4/5 the crust wasn't crispy at all, instead it was soft and puffy, the stuffing was good, like their choice of smoked ham and at $2 a slice it's a steal.
2) Macarons: I found the cream to be too buttery to my taste, but since I'm not an expert on macarons I won't rate them.
3) Berry tartlet: 4/5, it is nice but so small, it was a little bit bigger than a toonie.
4) Snow ball: 3/5, rather dry and also very tiny.
5) Eclair: 5/5, delish, not overly sweet cream, at the same time it is very delicate.
6) Chocolate covered strawberry: 0, the worst I have ever had, the chocolate does not melt in your mouth at all, pretty terrible that even Mandarin's strawberries stand out.
7) Danish pastry with apple: 5/5 nice and sweet, puffy pastry, just how it should be done.
and finally
8) Hot chocolate: 0, what they serve is actually a hot cocoa, I absolutely did not like the smell of it, it reminded me of blue cheese. I hate cocoa, in fact the last time I had it was in kindergarten.
So overall the food is nothing spectacular, in fact my default bakery is far better. It seems that baked goods and pastry are ok, but desserts and cookies are a waste of money.
Now for the service, felt like I was in Ice Age, everything was so slow, there were 3 ladies and only 1 me, and it took forever to order, to get sited and to pay. They did accommodate all of my requests but I think most of them were common sense(like fork and knife for quiche. warm up danish pastry),so they could have figured them out without me asking.
I still have to try to order one of their cakes, but so far I am greatly underwhelmed.
