Finally got a chance to come here after reading about it. We arrived at 3:30 in the afternoon and they were just opening. It is a bit hidden (like the other reviews have mentioned) so essentially when you walk in on the right is where the store is, and right in front of you is a curtain covering a staircase (that is NOT the entrance) and next to the curtains is what appears to be a wall with a shelf... But in fact, that is the entrance! Once you've figured out how to get in you find yourself in a dimly lit room with about 6 seats at the bar and a couple of small tables behind. It's not a big place but according to the bartender most nights the wait isn't that long, if there is a line the wait is about 5-15 minutes. We didn't have to wait since we were the first people there.
My first drink I ordered my usual, the old fashioned, although the bartender added a bit of a twist, adding a dash of absinthe and it was pretty darn good! The drink was very well made and it was strong. The way I like it. The second one I asked for something that he suggested. He asked a couple of questions and whipped up this amazing Pineapple (with fresh pineapples) bourbon cocktail, it was so refreshing, and just delicious.
The bartender was extremely friendly and helpful in giving us suggestions for our drinks. He even gave us a small history lecture on the different people in the photographs and how they contributed to bringing cocktails back!
All in all a great experience, excellent cocktails, great atmosphere, though the cocktails may be a bit pricey ($13-14) but that's about the same price for a good cocktail at a restaurant. So you should expect your bill to be a bit higher than a typical bar, but it's worth it.
