Purchased a $39 coupon from WagJag, but trying this place once was more than enough. In fact, it was bad enough that I wouldn't go back even for free!
It's not that the aesthetician wasn't friendly, it's just that everything else was pretty damn terrible.
Let's start with the place itself: Situated in a mish-mash complex of other businesses (not a problem in itself, of course) the entrance is simply one of a few dozen doors in the shabby, bare-ridden carpeted hallways marked by a small "Pro Eyelash Canada" sign and one marking it as a meditation company too. The procedure is done on a massage table in the back of the large, mostly unfinished room which features a large carpet in the middle of the room surrounded by shelves of cushions (for meditation classes).
Now onto the eyelashes: Again, I stress that the aesthetician is friendly and warned and apologized that the glue might burn a little. Having had eyelash extensions done before, it wasn't a problem for me, but I appreciated the warning and the tissue she handed me in case of tears. The coupon advertises that the cost is for real mink eyelashes. They are not. I can tell, because a few of them fell off the next morning that I got them, and they are thick, stiff, and you can split one single eyelash into two. On close inspection, you can see that the eyelashes are glued to clumps of real lashes rather than individually - this is going to be a problem because when they naturally fall out, it's going to rip out the real lash too. The ones that aren't glued to clumps of lashes are glued to the skin on the base of the lash line. Moreover, because the fake lashes are sometimes glued to neighbouring lashes, some of them stick in random directions! To 'solve' this problem, the lashes were them snipped in between to unstick them. Painful, dangerous, and the real lashes became part of the snipping process.
Finally, I'd like to point out that there are 'naked' parts where eyelashes were not glued. At first I thought it was a stylistic choice, ie- to place lashes only from the middle half of the lashline to the outer corners to create a wide-eyed effect, but it turns out only one of my eyes were done with no extensions on the inside corner. Which means one of my eyes is done all the way, and the other is missing the inside corner portion. Good to know that I can now audition for the Clockwork Orange, I suppose.
On top of all this, the aesthetician advised at the beginning of the appointment that the HST would still have to be paid as the coupon did not include it. Sure, it's a measly $5 so I didn't kick up a fuss about it and honestly, all I wanted to do at this point was leave.
I really advise against anybody going here, and hope the company closes soon so that nobody else is deceived into this "good deal". Wagjag, Fabfind, TeamBuy...most mass discount companies offer eyelash extension deals every month or so and I suggest you wait for another deal to pop up rather than settle for this one.
Save your money, save your eyelashes, and don't go to this place!!
