I stayed at this hotel for Memorial Day weekend. The elevator broke due to lack of proper maintenance. Nevertheless we were stuck in the elevator for over 2 hours waiting for a technician to get us out. I was in contact with hotel management during the ordeal and was promised full refund and upgrade of room. When we finally were able to get out. We were rudely escorted by security and brought into detention as if we were criminals. Btw I work for BMW. They wanted to charge us for their lack of maintenance saying it's our fault the elevator broke. We were not offered a refund or upgrade. After multiple attempts to get ahold of the owner and management team no response back to explain our dilemma. We were swept under the rug so to say. They obviously do not care about their clientele only taking your money. DO NOT STAY at EL CORTEZ!!!!! I will tell every person I meet about the horrible treatment by El Cortez staff. There are tons of other hotels why go somewhere where you are not appreciated. Lesson learned. Please tell everyone about their business procedures.
