Nature's Bin in Lakewood is closing. It is no coincidence that Whole Foods opened up across the bridge. I am done shopping here. Rocky River yuppies win again. I have always had a blue collar chip on my shoulder since I grew up across the river in Lakewood. Lakewood kids were cooler, dumber and more fun to be around. And tougher. That was clearly displayed when I was 17, 150 lbs, stoned and beat up a 6'3" Rocky River kid in front of Arabica on Center Ridge Road. Life has turned on me. I am a shadow of my former self. My life narrative is akin to Al Bundy's and it feels like Lakewood High was more like Polk High. It is truly a revenge of the nerds situation. The Rocky River kids are all grown up and no doubt huge success stories while I live on past glories. Now they got a cool Whole Foods that will take business away from Nature's Bin. It is a decent store with overpriced, allegedly healthy items. I just go for the Peanut Butter.
