Now I know firsthand why people use the term "Ritzy" to refer to unparalleled luxury. I could get used to this white glove treatment . . .
While in town recently, I was feeling like I wanted some luxury, and had the opportunity to stay at the Ritz-Carlton. When I called to book, I was also informed that this is the ONLY Ritz-Carlton in the state of Ohio, making it feel even more exclusive. I wasn't sure what to expect, but whatever I did expect, the Ritz-Carlton exceeded my hopes.
The staff addressed me by name, and were always very courteous and helpful, but never so obvious that I felt like I couldn't unwind and enjoy myself. The room itself was impeccable, and I appreciated the turn-down service with a tiny chocolate square that I had before bedtime when I stayed there. The gym was very nice, not too big, but had all of the equipment (cardio, weights) that I would need to stay fit on the road.
If you can, make time to enjoy the sunset from the concierge lounge; it was a clear evening when I went there and the view of the sun setting over Lake Erie was phenomenal! I definitely took a "stop and smell the roses" moment that evening, just enjoying a cup of hot tea and the view, and feeling like I didn't have a car in the world. For that moment, I didn't!
I would recommend the valet if you do go. There aren't any nearby parking lots or garages that are much cheaper, and the convenience of the valet cannot be beat. You can even text from your room for them to retrieve your car, and it will be at the curb by the time you are on the first floor.
