Hurts Donut has done a great job branding and creating an identity for itself. First, the name itself. Then, they have a "whammbulance" sitting out front, and third but not last, they have a great interior design that is well-planned and cohesive. When you walk in, there is a case of donuts directly in front. The employees are very nice, fast, and helpful. They wait patiently as you decided which doughnut you want to purchase, since there's a whole giant case from which you can choose. The remainder of the space is sitting space, with a grungy interior design that is very well maintained and cleaned. As for the donuts, I noticed two main types: cake and yeast. They have subtypes like fritters, long-johns, cream-filled etc but for the sake of this review, I'll use the major categories. I ordered the Chewbacca, Cereal Killer, Andes. The Chewbacca was a cream-filled yeast donut and the Cereal Killer a usual yeast donut. The texture to yeast donuts is usually airy, but this one was dense. On the other hand, the Andes doughnut is a cake doughnut. I felt like this cake doughnut was more airy than the yeast doughnuts, which is kind of sad. It was a little on the drier side but I enjoyed the texture more than the yeast doughnuts. They have a great selection of doughnut creations and I have to give them credit for that. They have one called "Slim shady" that is a black doughnut covered with white frosting, topped off with M&M's...if you can detect the subtle meaning ha. The doughnuts are also humongous compared to normal doughnuts. It's a little pricy but you do get a lot of doughnut, frosting, topping. Overall, average doughnuts but very creative creations, great place to be.
