I went to the Rhino with some friends for a birthday celebration last Saturday night. I was thoroughly underwhelmed. Appearance wise, the Rhino interior definitely needs an update. The entire bar looks quite dated and uninviting (Restaurant Makeover would be a good idea). On the positive side - the Rhino does have a pretty extensive and unusual beer list. My friends and I visit places like the Beer Bistro on occasion and yet had never heard of many of the beers on the Rhino list, which was awesome. On the negative side - from what I saw, the Rhino did not have a dance floor, yet the music was extremely loud, making it very hard for us to hear one another (even when there were 6 of us cramped around a table designed for 2). Also, to get to the bathrooms, you have to walk through a very sketchy looking basement. Service was quite slow... It took the server close to 20 mins to get our bill. Since there are many other awesome bars in Parkdale (e.g., Stones Place just down the road) it's unlikely that I would ever go out of my way to visit the Rhino again.
