I have never heard of Pima Medical Institute until a few years ago when I was looking into the medical field as a career. I've been to College of Southern Nevada and completed the course for the Certified Nursing Assistant to place my foot in the door to start my medical career. I knew where I was headed and I was on my way! After working as CNA for a year and a half, my hunger for more led me to change my major from nursing to radiology. After completing all of my general education classes and working the medical for 4 years, a friend of mine suggested I apply for the radiology program here at PMI. I called and requested more information in attending school here. Jennifer, the executive assistant, suggested that I come down to fill out an application. Jennifer was extremely helpful and I don't think I would've been able to really stick out from the other 300+ applicants to this popular program. Jennifer told me that typically, I'm supposed to join the Wednesday open house for interested applicants to this program, but I guess it was my lucky day because I was able to take my entrance exam and set up an interview appointment with the program director that same day! After passing my entrance exam no problem, I met the Medical Career Specialist, Mr. Steve Zone, who had a great personality and was very helpful down to every detail. He answered all of my questions and made sure I understood everything. My interview with the radiology program director, Mrs. Jennifer Beirdneau, was a bit intimidating at first, but they were all smiles and so welcoming. I was able to also meet Mrs. Shay Miller who was also very friendly! After my interview, I was pleased with my experience and thanked them for their time. Upon receiving my acceptance letter, I met Kathy, the financial aid officer, and she was very friendly and funny! She set me up easy and answered all of my questions. As a second year student, I am pleased with my experience and look forward to completing the program very soon! Cool points: - fundraisers by students - medium sized computer lab - great and friendly staff! - medium sized break room with 3 vending machines and sinks! - CLEAN bathrooms!
