The Hostel is a reliable place to stay when your visiting Montréal since it's close to the metro, near downtown, safe and affordable.
Safety 4/5: you can store your stuff in lockers if you bring your own lock. During the night hours someone is always around keeping an eye on the place.
Lodging 3/5 the room is keep reasonably clean and for 20 bucks a night you can't beat that! They give fresh towel/linen every night if you chose to pick it up. In addition to free laundry after 7 pm.
Location 5/5: it is located near the Bari Uquam station which is a reat connecting point for almost all of the metro lines.
Price 5/5: you can stay for as low as 20 bucks a night in an 8 person room which is what I did and for most of the time no one was there anyway. If you want privacy you should get a private room! Don't forget that you get breakfast for free (toast, fruit and some cereal) big stuff if you ask me.
Hostel life 4/5: you can meet people there and they have cooking/movie nights in addition to other events that they do regularly to keep it interesting. It's easy to make friends since lots of people talk in the common area and your free to socialize.
