I'm hard pressed to recall a worse experience at any McDonald's that I've ever visited. The menu was displayed on LED screens, and changed every few seconds so that it was impossible to decide what to order. Also, the screens were all over the store, and some menu items showed in some places and not others. This may be a nationwide thing - how unfortunate. I gave up on trying to find value menu items and ended up ordering a Chicken McNuggets meal.
I tried to take a picture of the menu to ascertain what to order if I ever found myself at a Canadian McDonald's again, and the manager on duty admonished me for doing so. Minutes later, a crazy man entered the store and started yelling and violently smacking his head. This went on for about 10 minutes. The manager did nothing. I genuinely feared for my life.
The cashier was pleasant, and she spoke both French and English. The fries were crisp, hot, and salted well. The chicken nuggets were dry, and the barbecue sauce tasted like spiced ketchup - nothing at all like the USA McDonald's barbeque sauce. The fountain drinks were on point - Coke tasted like it should, and the orange Fruitopia drink they had reminded me of the Hi-C Orange Lavaburst that I usually get in the States.
Oh, and they have Wi-Fi, just in case you were wondering.
Thanks to this experience, I am not in a hurry to enter another McDonald's in Canada any time soon.
