I know about how people love the sparkling new gyms, the ones filled with guys and gals with their hair perfectly done, the Under Armour, Nike, and Lululemon shimmering under brand new fluorescent lights. I know about how people love that new, well-greased equipment. I know about how people like their nationwide memberships and multiple convenient locations.
Greentree doesn't fit those descriptions. At all. Which is actually why it's so awesome.
From their simple, easy-to-navigate website: "The Greentree SportsPlex has always prided itself on being a friendly multi-sport family fitness facility, catering to the fitness fanatic, weekend warrior, and young athlete alike. Our staff is comprised of professional athletes, former collegiate student-athletes, and exercise enthusiast who take pride is helping our members with their fitness and health goals, no matter how small or large the goal is."
Hidden at the top of a windy hill, this place is the epitome of of gritty, down-to-earth fitness. I have attended Marcy's hardcore Zumba classes on Mondays, and she is a rockstar. I've been to my fair share of Zumba classes, and her choreography is challenging yet fun and very dance-oriented, which I love. She integrates her dance background very well, and her song choices are always top notch. She also adds a great ab workout at the end.
Kids run around getting ready for soccer practice, and there are activities for people of all ages and walks of life. Drop in classes are only $7, which is less than many fitness centers' package classes. The facilities may be older, but they are very clean and they provide towels if you need them.
Accessible and caters to exactly the audience that its mission states it caters to. I like it.
