Blonde bombshell, red headed vixen, or sultry brunette? These are just some of the tough choices we have to make in life. From the time I turned thirteen my hair has been every colour of the rainbow. Mostly coloured with cheap box dyes or manic panic picked up from your local hot topic and almost always resulting in stringy, dry, hay-like hair with hot roots and fried ends. Going to "Blonde" I never would have expected the same type of experience, much less an equally horrible cut to compliment it. Upon arriving I was met with a instant wave of heat....to the point I felt like I was standing back in Hawaii turning crispy on the north shore. The salon was tiny and from all the hype I had been hearing about it I was expecting a far more lavishly decorated space. The atmosphere was blah, similar to the stylists personality (she spoke with a monotone voice and regaled me with countless boring stories of her personal life including her boyfriend problems and bar hopping experiences). When it came time to colour I showed her a picture of a previous blonde I had had years before. I was assured this could be achieved with ease...Much to my surprise I ended up looking similar to an abandoned fire pit overgrown with grass..... Ashy with hints of green through my bangs (due to the type of lighting I wasn't able to notice the exact colour until I went home.). The cut ended up equally horrendous....I understand if someone is suffering from split ends they should be chopped off....but I wasn't expecting to go home sporting a military style buzz cut. The weeks that followed were a blur of anxiety, baseball caps and one or two desperate attempts at wearing a wig..... For the amount of money spent, the time wasted listening to the stylist talk and the torturous months that followed of watching my hair grow inch by inch, ever so slowly, I would not recommend this salon to anyone.
