I am not referring to the chocolate with the 2 stars. We are local so we buy a Groupon every once in a while and get a great price on chocolate and it's amazing, 5 stars! We LOVE the chocolate. I don't really like the atmosphere in the actual factory or store. There is never much action going on in the factory. We don't linger in the M&M store. The people actually helping you choose the chocolate have always been polite, helpful and nice. But it seems like unless they are behind the chocolate counter, they aren't so helpful. We don't really mind, the chocolate is worth it. The gardens are beautiful. We often walk through. Even more brilliant at Christmastime. A while ago I noticed they were doing a thing called "Decadence in the dessert". It sounded like craft booths, food carts, entertainment...... We finally made it last week.
While, I am hoping it will improve and we will be back as I like the idea of it, it was not a good experience. We ended up leaving and going out to dinner. Just a few craft booths; jewelry, baby stuff and some strange beer can containers with a lid?
There were a couple of food trucks. The variety was just not enough for us. One was hot dogs, one was everything 'cheese', a Filipino food truck and the one we wanted was a bacon truck.....we inquired about the menu, we all wanted burgers. The lady told us they weren't offering anything from that side of the menu.....?? when I said something, as all they then offered was hot dogs, she told me the reason was 'out of respect for the parents'...huh? she said since the burgers were meals; fries and drinks they were $12 (a fine price by us) and out of respect for parents whose children wanted a burger, they decided not to offer since it was $12..what?? Needless to say, we left. Totally annoyed as it was not a pleasant drive with traffic and road construction.
