I was first introduced to La Bocca at a 9/9/09 "Dress to the Nines" event where they hosted a very large food/wine tasting. Even though I only had four small hors d' oeuvres and tasted 4 small glasses of wine, I knew I would be back!
Since then I have absolutely fell in love with the menu here, the Med plate is particularly notable. An abundant assortment of warm (local!) olives, a block of crumbly feta garnished with roasted red pepper, huge portions of hummus and baba ghanoush, and two kinds of bread load up this plate making it an awesome appetizer to share (or just have as a meal yourself!).
Then the bruschetta...wow, love the combinations they offer! And they cut them neatly in half so you can share easily. My favorites are the roasted garlic/goat cheese/arugula and the roasted artichoke/spinach/red pepper. For pizza I have only tried the truffled mushroom, and while very good, I think I will try a different pizza next time. But for me this place is all about the apps. I recommend just getting an assortment including bruschetta and you will not be disappointed, especially if you love simple ingredients in mouth watering combinations.
I have noticed a lot of reviews complain about service, so I just want to give props to one waitress that really stood out for me. I wish I had her name but she is petite with a short blonde bob and glasses. She was so friendly and on top of things, she made great recommendations and checked on us frequently despite a very busy night.
I don't drink wine, so I cannot comment on the selection, but La Bocca is definitely worth a try for the food alone :)
