Coming from the US cell phone plan where you get a gazillion minutes for nearly nothing, I was disappointed in my options. I have used Fido as a pre-paid customer for 3 years now and decided, upon returning to Canada, that I would switch to a real plan. I reviewed all the less-than-optimal companies in Canada and decided Fido might be the least bad. I wanted a plan so I could use my phone in the US. After spending 3 hours trying to change from pre-paid to plan, I flew to LA and my phone still didn't work! Apparently if you have less than stellar credit (anyone who hasn't lived in Canada for 30 debt-free years) has to: 1. Pay a security deposit to sign up for a plan and 2. Get s a 90 day hold on roaming and int'l calls. So, I've cancelled my Fido and I'm going back to an American plan- if they'll have me.
