This review relates to the all-day trip to the Grand Canyon South Rim. Our tour guide was Gary - he hadn't been at the company long but was a natural with his stylish, chatty style and repartee.
As for Gary's driving, and for me, at least, a great combination of speed, safety and passenger comfort. HOWEVER, and Gary, if you read this, I heard a number of passengers complain that you drove a little fast - you may want to go slower. It certainly didn't bother me but it may be better for the tip jar to slow down a little!
He personally selected the videos we watched but we were near the back of the bus and it would have been better if the volume was quite a bit louder. I actually think there may have been enough time to show one more video which would have been the icing on the cake- maybe the whole Earth, Wind and Fire DVD?. Gary was great with imparting useful information as we drove up to the Grand Canyon and I wished he did this more often. Towards the end of the tour, Gary put the lights back on in the bus and launched into a very interesting commentary on his experiences living in Las Vegas and his thoughts for the future of the city. Yet another situation where I wished he would have talked for longer.
The first stop at McDonalds was fine. The second stop for the Grand Buffet was even better. Don't leave without sampling the potato soup. Also, the croutons were to die for. I couldn't get enough of those little suckers. Put them in your soup, put them on your salad -actually, anywhere you can. I wanted to buy some but we were running late. The best was saved for last with a trip to Carl Jr's for a late pm/early evening repast. Gary had assured us they could handle a coachload of people even if a few other coaches arrived at the same time. Like everything he said, you could take it to the bank. The dining experience was handled with military precision and you had your food in the flashest of flashes.
Certainly, a day to be remembered. The other tour bus drivers may be good but Gary was great. Make sure you ask to be on his bus!
