We stayed for 2 nights at the Thunderbird because of a last-minute decision to do Vegas over a very crowded, expensive Labor Day weekend. If you need a cheap, clean place to sleep for the night you can certainly do much worse. The hotel is centrally located to both the strip and downtown. The property was clean and the room furnishings were new (relatively new platform bed - new rug - the new side tables and desk had a reclaimed wood look to them). Bathroom was clean. The bathroom light switches were technically in the living room, which was odd, but it's not the end of the world. FYI there's a hair dryer and an iron but no safe in the room. My stay was "fine" but I MUCH more enjoy staying at casino properties for obvious reasons. Based on my experience it deserves more than the current 1.5 star average. People don't like the $150 deposit you have to give upon check in. It's just a credit card hold; don't trash the room and you'll be fine.
This was one of the few options left and I got a good deal on Hotels.com. It appears they re-branded half of the neighboring Super 8 motel and threw the word "boutique" in the business name to attract new guests.
We had bad luck the first night because our loser next door neighbors were drinking all night and coming in and out of the room to smoke on the balcony hallway at 430am. The hotel moved us to a different room for the second night and we got a perfectly good night's sleep.
I felt safe and I wasn't worried about my car. For reference, it's right between the Little White Wedding Chapel and the Super 8. The area has a mix of chapels and motels on an isolated little strip of Las Vegas Blvd. There's a Walgreens up the block that you can walk to - otherwise call an Uber if you want to go anywhere for the night.
