Super easy process to get a new SS card after changing your last name due to marriage.
When driving in you want to go all the way to the left hand side of the building. There is a separate door for new cards. You will walk in, security will check your bag, and then you check in on computer and wait till your number is called. I went on Monday at 3pm and there was only 3 people ahead of me so it went very quickly. I had all my paperwork ready to go so I was called up, and out the door in 5-10min. Super easy process!
For a speedy process make sure to bring:
1. Driver license or passport
2. New card application (Print online from SS site)
3. Certified marriage certificate with lifted notary stamp
Once that is complete they update the system, mail you a SS card, and then you get a temporary paper that you can take to the DMV to change your driver license. They say to wait 2 days before going to DMV so the system fully updates.
